Biographical sketch

Studies in Ancient History, Classical Studies and Classical Archaeology at the University of Vienna. 1988–1989 postgraduate studies at University College London with Prof. J. Nicholas Coldstream. 1995 PhD at the University of Vienna. 2018 habilitation at TU Darmstadt. 1989–1994 and 2001–2007 research associate at the Mycenaean Commission of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. 1997 participation in the Olympia excavation of the German Archaeological Institute. 1998–2000 APART Fellowship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. 2007–2013 senior academic staff member at the Department of Classical Archaeology, Institute of Archaeological Studies, University of Freiburg. 2013–2019 head of the research group Mycenaean Aegean at the OREA Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Since 2019 head of the Athens Branch of the Austrian Archaeological Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Since 2022 co-director of the excavation project at Kleidi–Samikon.
