By merging the holdings of the Departments of Classical Studies, Historical Archaeology and Prehistory & WANA Archaeology, the library currently comprises around 70,000 volumes, including numerous specialist journals and series. The collection is also enriched by a considerable number of permanent loans from the Austrian Academy of Sciences BAS:IS - Library, Archive, Collections: Information & Service.

The focus of the collection is broadly diversified. It includes the fields of classical archaeology, epigraphy, numismatics and monetary history, Egyptology, prehistory and historical archaeology.
