Short bio

Szymon Bogacz has been a postdoctoral researcher at the IKGA since September 2025. He is part of the Ethics of Empty Beliefs: Chinese Buddhist Philosophy in the ‘Period of Disunity’ (ChinBuddhPhil) project funded by the European Research Council. His current research explores Buddhist epistemology and examines the apparent claim of some Buddhist philosophers, that we should not have any beliefs or conceptual thoughts. 

Bogacz holds a PhD from the School of Philosophy of the Australian National University and an MA in Eastern Philosophy from Jagiellonian University. He has taught at both institutions in Philosophy and Buddhist Studies programs. His research interests extend beyond Buddhist thought and include epistemology, philosophy of logic, and philosophy of language.
