Hildegard Schmoller
was a research associate, project coordinator and co-editor of the Joint Austrian-Czech History Book in the research unit History of the Habsburg Monarchy.

Brief Biography
Hildegard Schmoller studied history and political sciences at the University of Vienna and the Charles University in Prague. Her PhD dissertation ‘Münchner Abkommen als tschechischer Gedächtnisort’ received three awards. She has been a freelance historian since 2011. In 2015, she joined the Institute of Modern and Contemporary History at the Austrian Academy of Sciences as a researcher.
Research Interests
Period: modern history and contemporary history focusing on the 20th century.
Area: East Central and Southeast Europe, especially Czechoslovakia and its successor states
Topics: history of Austrian-Czech relations, religious cultures, cultures of remembrance and collective memory, visual media, gender studies
