According to the mission statement, and with a clear focus on the Austrian media system,
research at CMC encompasses

  • the structural conditions, contents, and effects of politically relevant communication, and
  • the ethics, accountability, and governance of public communication in times of media change.

These two complementary perspectives are reflected in the research group structure:

  • Media, Politics & Democracy (MePD; headed by Josef Seethaler) and
  • Media Accountability & Media Change (MAMC; headed by Tobias Eberwein)
