Typography

At the beginning of 2026, as part of a corporate design refresh, Google Lato and Crimson Pro were designated as the new corporate fonts of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. These fonts must be used by all OeAW employees.

Headings, Intros: Google Lato
Continous text: Crimson Pro (Google)

In the OeAW templates, the fonts are automatically embedded in the document and should therefore work on most computers. If this does not work, both fonts can be easily downloaded free of charge from the Internet and installed on your own computer, as they are open source Google Fonts.

Download and Installation

If the fonts are not displayed on your PC/laptop, you can install them as follows:

  • Download fontshere
  • Select the ZIP file and unzip it by right-clicking and selecting ‘Extract All’.
  • Open the ‘Fonts’ folder on your PC/laptop (usually drive C:).
  • Copy the unzipped files into the folder. Only use the files in the ‘static’ folder!!!
  • The font is now available in all applications on your PC/laptop.

Institute's color

Please note that the OeAI's institutional colour was also changed at the beginning of 2026. The primary colour of the institute is now slightly darker and is also used as a gradient. The colour grey is no longer in use.

The new colour codes are:

HEX #D22630

The name of the institute must always be given in conjunction with the umbrella brand OeAW. If space constraints prevent the entire name from being given, priority must be given to mentioning the OeAW.
