Biographical sketch

Studied first law, then Ancient History (major), Classical Archaeology and Medieval and Modern History in Heidelberg. 1991/1992 Acquisition of the degree of Magister Artium. 1992-1998 Research assistant at the Department of Ancient History at Bielefeld University. 1999-2004 Research assistant at the Institute of Papyrology at the University of Heidelberg. 2002 doctorate. 2003 Habilitation and venia legendi in Ancient History. 2004-2009 university lecturer in ancient history and papyrology at the Department of Ancient History and the Institute of Papyrology at the University of Heidelberg. Since 2009 employed at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. 2019 Member in residence at the Institute for Advanced Study, School of Historical Studies, Princeton (New Jersey).
