Biographical sketch

Studied Ancient History, Provincial Roman and Classical Archaeology and Communication Sciences at the Universities of Munich and Vienna. Doctorate in 1994 on Roman burial structures in Noricum. Since 1985 scientific and curatorial work at the Archaeological Museum Carnuntinum. Research projects in the field of provincial Roman archaeology, especially in the Danubian provinces and Gallia Belgica. Since 2001 lectureships at the University of Vienna, since 2005 staff member at the Institute for the Cultural History of Antiquity at the OeAW. Work on the »Corpus signorum imperii romani Carnuntum« and on various research projects on sculpture and architecture of the Roman provinces. 2017-2020 Head of the WG Religion and Society at the IKAnt. Since 2021 OeAI, Department of Classical Studies, research group »Ancient Religion«.
