Academic Background

Melina Witt completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Salzburg. She then began the Master’s program in Behavioral, Neuro- and Cognitive Biology at the University of Vienna, which she completed in fall 2024 with a thesis entitled “Does harmonic clarity in species-specific vocalizations influence preference for harmonic sounds?” As part of her master’s thesis, she also completed an internship at ARI.

Current Research

The goal of Melina’s research is to investigate the biological foundations of human musicality through cross-species studies. Her work focuses primarily on the comparative study of how consonant and dissonant tone combinations are perceived.
