Biographie
Ercan Akyol is a postdoctoral research fellow (APART-GSK) at the Institute of Iranian Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. In his four-year project, Early Modern Ottoman Letter-Writing, 1561–1644, Akyol will investigate Ottoman epistolary culture, focusing on the material features, contents, styles, and networks of Ottoman letters.
From 2022 to 2026, Akyol worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Vienna, where he also completed his PhD. He is also one of the editors of Keshif: E-Journal for Ottoman-Turkish Micro Editions.
His research focuses on early modern Ottoman cultural history, particularly manuscript studies, literary history, and epistolary culture.
