
Biographie
Eirik Kvindesland is a global historian of the modern Middle East, specializing in modern Jewish history in Iran, Palestine and the Persian Gulf. He is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute for Iranian Studies as part of an ERC PersCom project, led by Dr. Ariane Sadjed.
Eirik wrote his doctoral dissertation at the University of Oxford (2024), exploring the forgotten history of modern Jewish communities in the Persian Gulf, and their transnational interactions with the Indian Ocean, Jerusalem and Palestine. He work has appeared in leading journals such as Past & Present and British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies.
His latest book, “Iran and Israel: Old friends, new enemies” (2025, in Norwegian) provides a broad historical introduction to the conflict between Iran and Israel, as well as the less-known Jewish history that binds them together. Eirik is a sought-after public speaker and commentator, appearing with Aljazeera, NRK and TV2. His non-academic writings have appeared in Morgenbladet, Dagens Naeringsliv and Stavanger Aftenblad.
