Biographical sketch
Elisabeth Rathmayr pursued her master’s and doctoral studies in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at the Paris-Lodron University Salzburg and successfully finished it in 2002. From 1999 to 2008, Elisabeth Rathmayr was project staff member at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Austrian Archaeological Institute. Since 2010, she has been the head of archaeological and epigraphic projects at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and in the Epigraphy Working Group of the Austrian Archaeological Institute.
Her primary research interest lies in the analysis of archaeological and epigraphic evidence and artifacts to reconstruct various aspects of the daily lives of people in antiquity. Her area of research is the Greek East from the Hellenistic period to Late Antiquity.
Elisabeth Rathmayr is a member of the Association for the Promotion of Christian Archaeology in Austria and the Association Internationale pour l’Étude de la Mosaïque Antique (AIEMA).
