Biographical sketch

Domnika Verdianu is a bioarchaeologist working as a university assistant (Prae-Doc) in the Department of Prehistory and Historical Archaeology at the University of Vienna since December 2025. She holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree from this institution. Since 2021, she has been part of the 'Prehistoric Identities' research group at the Austrian Archaeological Institute (Austrian Academy of Sciences). Her research focuses on mortuary practices during the Bronze Age in Central Europe, as well as osteology, palaeopathology and archaeothanatology. Her PhD project investigates the bioarchaeology of children and adolescents, with a particular focus on sex-specific burial practices and care during the Early Bronze Age.
