Schrankogel – 20 Jahre: Warming in the cold: vascular plant and soil biota responses in the high Alps during the past 20 years.

High mountains can be found in all major biomes on Earth and are home to organisms adapted to cold conditions. These two factors make high mountains excellent subjects for studying the effects of climate change on biodiversity and natural ecosystems. The third study at the GLORIA Master Site Schrankogel (established in 1994) aims to provide new results at the species and species community level for vascular plants, soil microorganisms, and arthropods. This is of utmost importance for assessing biodiversity risks and developing prediction models and conservation strategies.
