PLATO Workshops on 3D Climate and Clouds

Follow-Up Online Meeting (1)

April 29, 2024

This meeting aims to discuss suitable PLATO targets for 3D characterisation and the progress of ongoing projects.

When: April 29th, starting at 10 am (CEST)

Where: Online

This workshop shows the synergies between PLATO and the CHAMELEON MC-ITN in the developments of virtual laboratories for present and future space mission applications.

    Programm:

    10:00 - 11:00: General Update

    • L. Carone: Paper progress (Update: Rayleigh scattering slope paper)
    • L. Carone & M. Lendl: Variability & Backscattering in the optical -> Lessons from CHEOPS
    • J.M. Desert : PLATO Target list discussion

    11:15 -12:15: PLATO meets CHAMELEON MC-ITN

    • 11:00: N. Bach-Møller - “The effect of radiative environments on exoplanet atmospheres”.
    • 11:20: S. Kiefer - "Clouds in 3D exoplanet atmospheres"
    • 11:40: L. Heinke -"Atmospheric Characterization of the Warm Sub-Saturn Exoplanet HAT-P-12b with JWST"

    Kick-off meeting

    September 11-13, 2023

This three day workshop aimed at gathering models and discussing tasks for WP116 700 (Clouds and atmosphere chemistry of exoplanets) and WP 116 800 (3D climate of exoplanets) in conjunction with PLATO observations (represented by WP 112 300). Thus, the main focus of this workshop was in interactive discussions with possibilities of break-out rooms for targeted collaboration.

    Program

Christiane Helling (IWF Graz), Ludmila Carone (IWF Graz), Michiel Min (SRON NL) and Jean-Michel Desert (UVA, NL)
