Two PhD students won the EMS scholarship for attending an international conference

Mr. Yong Huang and Ms. Qiulin Qu won the European Microscopy Society (EMS) scholarship for participating in the 17th Multinational Congress on Microscopy (17MCM) conference at Portorož, Slovenia, from 7 – 12 September 2025. MCM takes place every two years and is co-hosted by several national microscopy societies, such as those from Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Italy, Czech-Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia, and the others.

With the support of EMS, Mr. Huang successfully presented a poster titled ’Multi-scale investigation of superior mechanical properties in nitride ceramics with negative stacking fault energy’. Ms. Qu nicely reported her initial results of the FWF project by giving a talk --‘Atomic-resolution electron microscopy analysis of oxygen-mediated Ti nanocrystalline synthesized by high-pressure torsion’. Both sparked heated discussions.

 In the conference, a total of three oral presentations and one poster from ESI were presented.
