Behzad Sadeghi AIT Poster Award 2026

Behzad Sadeghi, MSCA Senior Researcher at the Erich Schmid Institute of Materials Science (ÖAW), received 2nd Place at the AIT Poster Award 2026 for his project: “Ultra-Durable Lightweight Aluminum for Fatigue-Critical Applications”

29.05.2026

The competition, organized by AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and accent Incubator, focused strongly on the commercialization potential, industrial relevance, and technology transfer opportunities of innovative research projects.

The presented technology addresses one of the major challenges in lightweight engineering: improving fatigue durability without increasing structural weight. The developed high-performance aluminum composite is designed for fatigue-critical applications in sectors such as aerospace and hydrogen systems.

The project combines advanced powder metallurgy, architectured Aluminum matrix composites (AMCs), and integrated bulk/surface fatigue enhancement strategies to enable safer and longer-lasting lightweight structures for future applications.

This recognition highlights the growing importance of translating advanced materials research into commercially relevant industrial solutions.
