The team of the ERC project “The Dawn of Tibetan Buddhist Scholasticism (11th–13th c.)” (TibSchol, ERC-H2020-101001002) is exploring a vast corpus of early Tibetan scholastic works. The aim of the project is twofold: to reconstruct the early Tibetan scholastic landscape and to explore the Tibetan scholastic method. The individual investigations of the members of the team are addressing the project’s key research strands: mapping of scholarly networks (Serena Biondo), hermeneutics (Lobsang Yongdan), argumentative tools and methods (Jonathan Samuels), and the scholastic toolkit (PI Pascale Hugon). Tsering Drongshar is supporting the team by conducting a corpus survey and undertaking textual data mining. Rachael Griffiths is in charge of Digital Humanities aspects of the project. Saranya Balasubramanian, from the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage (ACDH-CH), is the project’s web developer. Hermine Huber, as project manager, is overseeing the smooth running of the project.
Das Team des ERC-Projekts „The Dawn of Tibetan Buddhist Scholasticism (11th–13th c.)“ (TibSchol) befasst sich mit der Bearbeitung eines umfangreichen Korpus früher tibetischer scholastischer Werke. Das Projekt verfolgt zwei Ziele: die Rekonstruktion der frühen tibetischen scholastischen Landschaft und die Erforschung tibetischer scholastischer Methoden. Die individuellen Teilprojekte der einzelnen Wissenschafter:innen widmen sich dabei folgenden zentralen Konzepten innerhalb des Projekts: Kartografierung von Gelehrtennetzwerken (Serena Biondo), Hermeneutik (Lobsang Yongdan), Werkzeuge und Methoden der Argumentation (Jonathan Samuels) und scholastische Werkzeuge (PI Pascale Hugon). Tsering Drongshar unterstützt das Team mittels Erfassung und Auswertung des Korpus. Rachael Griffiths widmet sich den Aspekten der Digital Humanities innerhalb des Projekts. Die Webentwicklung wird von Saranya Balasubramanian vom Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage (ACDH-CH) übernommen. Als Projektmanagerin ist Hermine Huber für die organisatorischen Abläufe des Projekts verantwortlich.
