Symposium on permanent magnetic materials at the FisMat 2025 conference in Venice, Italy

On the 11th of July 2025, the international workshop on “Advances on Permanent Magnets for Sustainable Solutions: Towards the European Green Deal” took place at the FisMat 2025 conference in Venice, Italy.

14.07.2025

The workshop, which was organized by Cecilia Granados-Miralles (Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio (ICV), CSIC – Spain), César de Julián (Institute of Materials for Electronics and Magnetism (IMEM), CNR – Italy), Andrea Bachmaier (Erich Schmid Institute of Materials Science, Austrian Academy of Sciences – Austria) and Spyros Diplas (Department of Sustainable Energy Technology, SINTEF Industry – Norway), brought together material scientists working on permanent magnet materials across Europe.

The workshop covered topics from the development of well-known rare-earth magnets to the design of novel rare-earth free materials with the potential to enable a partial substitution. The discussions spanned both experimental approaches and multi-level simulation perspectives.
