Dates: 23. - 25. March 2020
Location: IMBA, Dr. Bohr-Gasse 3, 1030 Vienna, Austria
Hosted By: IMBA Stem Cell Core Facility
Agenda
This hands-on workshop provides skills of handling and genetically modifying human embryonic stem cells as well as generating induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC).
To provide a comfortable learning experience and allow for personalized interactions between the instructors and attendees, the numbers are limited to a maximum of ten (10) students. Please note, that the course will only take place if a minimum of eight (8) participants register.
The course is held over two and a half days, from Monday (23.03.2019) to Wednesday midday (25.03.2019).
Topics will include:
· Reprogramming of human dermal fibroblasts to iPSCs
· Feeding, passaging and assessment of human ESC cultures
· Freezing and thawing of human ES cells
· Gene editing of human embryonic stem cells using CRISPR/Cas9 technology
This course is highly practical and will be based in a Class II tissue culture facility. All relevant safety equipment, clothing and training will be provided.
Who should attend this course? | Why attend this course? |
---|---|
The course is aimed at research scientists from business and academic backgrounds who want to learn the practical details of working with and editing human and reprogramming human dermal fibroblasts. Because this is a hands-on practical course, applicants need to already have basic cell culture skills. Acquire practical skills in handling stem cell culture and connect with new people in the Stem Cell Network of Austria. |
You will receive a detailed course booklet containing all laboratory protocols and troubleshooting tips, so you can get started right away when you return to your lab.

Certification
Participants who attend the full course will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Tutors
Dr Jennifer Volz | Dr Sofia Aligianni |
