At the renowned Olavsfest festival in Trondheim (28 July–3 August), a musical work entitled Mass of Graffiti will be performed. Composed by Morten Christophersen, the piece draws its lyrics from religious graffiti found across Europe, including inscriptions from Hagia Sophia.
The Greek-language graffiti, documented through the FWF-funded project Epigraphies of Pious Travel, were provided by Rachael Helen Banes. She also prepared summaries of the material for Christophersen and identified particularly noteworthy inscriptions for inclusion in the work.
Further information about the performance is available on the Olavsfest website (in Norwegian only).
