Cultural Heritage is the multifaceted legacy we inherit from the past, live with in the present, and transmit to future generations. It reflects what makes us human while also anchoring us within specific national, ethnic, religious, social, gender, or linguistic contexts.

In this spirit, the Austrian Archaeological Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, as the future host of the national node of the Consortium E-RIHS (European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science), is pleased to invite you to the »Heritage Meets Science« Conference.

The conference will be held over two days:

Day 1: Introduction to E-RIHS ERIC and an overview of heritage research in Austria at universities, museums, and the Federal Monuments Authority, followed by discussions on future perspectives and collaborations at both national and European levels.

Day 2: Presentations of the final results from the nine projects funded under the first call of the »Heritage Science Austria« programme (Austrian Academy of Sciences, 2020), highlighting the transdisciplinary field of Heritage Science, which addresses the documentation, interpretation, preservation, and management of cultural heritage while facilitating comprehensive access to artworks, cultural assets, and archaeological legacy.

We warmly welcome researchers, professionals, and enthusiasts in the field of heritage and archaeological sciences and related disciplines to join us for this exciting opportunity to exchange knowledge, ideas, and future collaborations.
