Biography

Studied history and physics at the University of Graz. 2005 PhD and 2014 habilitation in contemporary history at the University of Graz. Since 2006 head of the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Graz and since 2018 Professor of Jewish History and Contemporary History. Researcher and head of numerous projects on Austrian Jewish history, the history of persecution during the Nazi era and Austrian cultural memory. Curator of exhibitions on historical topics. Member of the National Forum against Antisemitism and network coordinator of ERINNERN:AT Styria. Since January 2024 coordinator of the antisemitism research group at the IKT. 

Main research areas

Jewish history of the 19th and 20th centuries, history of National socialism and the persecution of the Jews, memory studies and history of antisemitism.
