In October, zoologist and ARI-scientist Angela Stoeger takes up the new Professorship in Zoo Conservation Science, focusing on ex situ conservation (the care and breeding of endangered species outside their natural habitats). The role strengthens the partnership between the University of Vienna and Tiergarten Schoenbrunn and brings research, practice, and public engagement closer together on modern zoo management and species protection. As biodiversity declines worldwide, this work helps safeguard at-risk species for the long term.
