Dr. Vera Ferreira

ELDP Archiving and Support Officer

Vera Ferreira is a trained linguist with a background in language documentation and field research. Her main research interests lie in European endangered languages and in the connection between documentary data and language revitalisation. She is head of CIDLeS and ELDP Archiving Support and Development Officer at SOAS University of London. Vera provides advice and training on all aspects of data collection, data management, data processing, metadata preparation and digital archiving.


Dr. Alex Garcia Laguia

 

Alex Garcia is a linguist working on the documentation and description of Northern Alta, a Negrito language spoken by less than 200 people in the Philippines. Since 2014 he has been developing a collection of annotated video recordings as well as a lexical database of the language, which are both accessible at the Endangered Languages Archive (ELAR). In 2018, he obtained his PhD at the University of Barcelona with a dissertation titled: Documentation of Northern Alta: grammar, glossary and texts.


Anna Sowa

Documentary film producer

Anna Sowa is a documentary film producer with a strong background in international affairs policies and academic research. After completing her BA in Arabic with International Relations, Anna continued to follow her professional and academic interest in International Development at SOAS where she graduated with a distinction MSc Migration, Mobility and Development. She is a PhD by practice candidate at the London Film School/ University of Exeter, researching the role of the producer in collaborative documentary filmmaking.


Remi Sowa

Documentary film producer

Remi Sowa is an award-winning social documentarian and the founder and creative director of Chouette Films - a green film production company committed to using film as a tool for social change, specialised in working with NGOs and academia. Through his work at Chouette Films, Remi pursues his passion and professional interest in documentary film as a tool for social change. His work has been recognised at a number of international film festivals including the 14th Al Jazeera Documentary Film Festival. Remi holds a First Class degree in Documentary Film Production.
