Wittgenstein Centre Conference 2023

We are pleased to announce our keynote speakers:

  • The role and evolution of education as one of the main factors of demographic heterogeneity
  • Increasing mortality gradients and health disparities across cohorts
  • Heterogeneity in fertility, reproduction and reproductive preferences
  • Exploring heterogeneity in the demographic behavior of migrant populations
  • Increasing heterogeneity across and within family structures
  • Heterogeneity in space: geographic areas, urban and rural populations
  • Projecting population heterogeneities
  • Demographic heterogeneity and socio-economic inequality: processes and policies
  • Social instability, segmentation, polarization and policy responses

 


Paper submissions online:

including

  • short abstract (250–400 words) and
  • extended abstract (2–5 pages) or the full paper.

Please make sure your abstract includes the title, full name(s), affiliation and e-mail addresses of each author.


We encourage in-person participation. Depending on the circumstances, the conference may be held in a hybrid format.

A special issue of the  Vienna Yearbook of Population Research will be dedicated to the topic of this conference. Conference participants and other researchers will be invited to submit their papers on the conference theme to this platinum open-access journal.

Prior to the conference, starting on 4 December 2023, an international Winter School related to the topic of the conference will be organised by VID. Further information will be distributed.
