CURRICULUM VITAE (short)

Bernd Brabec studied Musicology in Salzburg, Graz and Vienna, specializing in the ethnomusicology of Amazonia, music and healing, and auditive anthropology. Since 2006 he has repeatedly worked as a freelance cooperator at the Phonogrammarchiv, especially for editing and archiving Spanish language recordings and indigenous music. Academic employments and teaching assignments at the Centre for Systematic Musicology, University of Graz, at the Department of Ethnomusicology, University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz, and at the Department of Cultural and Social Anthropology, University of Marburg. In 2017 he was visiting professor at the University of Vienna.

He also engages in applied projects such as sound installations. He is the editor of The Human and Non-Human in Lowland South American Indigenous Music (Routledge, 2013), co-editor of Sudamérica y sus mundos audibles (Gebr. Mann, 2015) and Auditive Wissenskulturen (Springer VS, 2018), and author of Die Lieder der Richtigen Menschen (Helbling, 2015) besides numerous scholarly articles.
