Studies: Violin at the University for Music and Performing Arts (formerly: Academy for Music and Performing Arts) in Vienna; Musicology, History of Art and Law at the University of Vienna. 1978 PhD graduation, 2002 Habilitation. 1985–1990 substitute violinist (orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic). 1979–2018 staff member of the Phonogrammarchiv, Austrian Academy of Sciences (subject specialist: Ethnomusicology and Musicology). 2012–2018 director of the Phonogrammmarchiv.
