This talk discusses the pottery found in the Valley of the Kings during the past thirty years or so. It can be divided into several different, and distinct, groups, not all of which are present at every tomb, and the borders between the groups are sometimes blurred. In turn I will discuss the pottery used by the workmen who made the tombs; foundation deposits placed at the entrance to some of the tombs; pottery associated with the funeral ceremonies; pottery placed in the tomb at the time of burial, principally the large storage jars often used to hold embalming materials; votive pottery; vessels used as containers for food, drink, oils and unguents, and finally the pottery used at the sealing of the tomb.
