Neolithic On-Site Symposion

Çukuriçi Höyük (Ephesos, Turkey)

Saturday 11.10.2014 , duration: 2 days

B. Horejs and Team

The Symposion aims to present and discuss the excavated remains of the Neolithic Settlements of the 7th millennium BC at Çukuriçi Höyük, which will be ultimately accessible during our last field investigations in autumn 2014.

Especially the research focused on the Neolithic period in Western Anatolia and the neighbouring regions of Central Anatolia, the Aegean and Turkish Thrace provided us with a high amount of new data during the last decades. Therefore, it is worth discussing these remains in reflection of the current state of research within the frame of its wider geographical and cultural context.

Particularly with regard to present debates and models, we would like to present the excavation results with reference on actual material studies on ceramics, small finds, lithics as well as new radiocarbon dates and archaeozoological/-botanical studies in a body of experts of the region. The Symposion will last one day on site with presentations and discussions.
