Last Saturday, 150 years ago, Mendel presented his work Experiments on Plant Hybridization for the first time. The same year marked the first publication of the Linzer Tagespost, now known as Oberösterreichische Nachrichten. In celebration of these events, OÖNachrichten has published a story on Mendel and the history of genetics, along with an interview from Wolfgang Busch covering the history of Mendel's work, plant genetics as it is studied today at the GMI, and what we can look forward to in the future.
