After the great success of last year’s preconference on “Media Performance and Democracy”, CMC in cooperation with the University of Zurich organizes a follow-up event at ICA’s 2017 annual conference in San Diego.
The 2017 ICA preconference aims to continue the debate on quality indicators for journalism as tools to strengthen the democratic functions of the media. Particularly, the preconference focuses on the challenges for evaluating and measuring media quality brought about by the diversity of concepts of democracy throughout the world as well as by the growing diversity of media types and consumption patterns. The preconference will take place in San Diego, CA (at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel), on May 25, 2017. It is organized by Josef Seethaler together with Linards Udris from the Research Institute for the Public Sphere and Society at the University of Zurich.
