In view of the strong dynamics of the methodological transformation and the paradigm shifts that are becoming increasingly widespread in the humanities, knowledge transfer is playing an increasingly important role.

In essence, the ACDH-CH is engaged in knowledge transfer at two interfaces: on the one hand, it is concerned with communication within the research community and, on the other, it aims to make research activities accessible to the general public.

The ACDH-CH sees the exchange with society as a central mission and promotes this through a series of measures.

Due to the increased use of digital spaces and methods, public engagement has become increasingly important in recent years, as it is now expected from all sides that research content and research results are communicated directly to society.

Research content and results are presented to the general public via various channels.

In addition to the social media presence of the institute (e.g., on X and YouTube), the ACDH-CH has participated, since it’s foundation, in large science outreach events such as “Lange Nacht der Forschung”, “European Researchers Night” or in events specially targeted to children such as the Vienna Children’s University (KinderUni). Furthermore, the ACDH-CH participates in science talks and panel discussion in different contexts.

Another important aspect is the design and organization of its own science outreach events, such as the Campus Festival in honour of Anton Bruckner.

Here you find a selection of events in which the ACDH-CH has participated and which are aimed at the general public.
