From a systemic linguistic perspective, the DynAT research area “Lexical and Grammatical Variation and Change” focuses primarily on the linguistic levels of lexis and grammar and their intersections. Research interests include phenomena of lexis (vocabulary) including word formation, inflectional morphology as well as multi-word expressions, syntactic constructions and phenomena on the intersection of syntax and semantics. The theoretical paradigms in which these lexical and grammatical analyses are embedded include variationist linguistics and sociolinguistics as well as research on standard language, dialectology, language change, language history, language attitudes and cognitive linguistics.
