The DynAT research area "Language in Space" investigates the relationship between language and space with a focus on spatial concepts of various dimensions. The various activities of this DynAT research area focus on identifying areal linguistic characteristics and patterns as well as both language-internal and -external parameters (such as cultural-historical, socio-demographical, topological) with explanatory potential of linguistic correlates.
The following sub-projects contribute to the DynAT research area "Language in Space":
WBÖ – Lexicographic Documentation of 20th-Century Bavarian Dialects
LexAT21 – Atlas on lexical variation in Austria in the 21st century
Cooperation/Satellite projects
The following externally funded projects, which are situated in the context of the research unit Linguistics of the ACDH or which are cooperation projects (with external PI) working with the research unit, are closely linked to the DynAT activities and contribute significantly to the research on areal linguistic dynamics in Austria:
