Biography
Paul Patreider joined the Institute of European Tort Law in 2026. He previously worked at the LMU Munich, and an international law firm. After concluding his studies at the University of Innsbruck, Paul was involved in various international research projects, most recently for the European Law Institute. During his doctoral studies, he spent two research stays at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. In addition to his academic work, Paul is a member of the Italian bar.
Paul is fluent in German (native), English and Italian. He has solid foundations in French and Russian.
Main Areas of Research
Paul’s work focuses on the intersection of family and succession law as well as European and private international law. In all these areas, he works on a comparative law basis, with an interdisciplinary and historical approach. Paul is currently developing new research projects in the area of tort law.
