From 13–15 June 2025, over 5,000 events took place across Europe as part of the European Archaeology Days. They offered visitors the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of archaeology. In total, various archaeological stakeholders from more than 30 European countries took part and opened up excavation sites that are not normally open to the public, presented hands-on activities, offered special guided tours in archaeological parks or provided the opportunity to meet researchers and visit non-public laboratories.

With the »PolychroMon« project, the OeAI made a major contribution to the Austrian contribution to the European Archaeology Days 2025. There was great interest in the contributions of our colleagues Nirvana Silnović and Robert Krickl. They presented the results of their research into the colourfulness of antiquity to a large number of interested visitors from various continents at the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Museum Carnuntinum.
