The description of the basic teachings of the Jayakhyasamhita gives an insight into the tradition of Pancaratra which is still living. The Jayakhyasamhita is one of the oldest and most authoritative texts of this tradition which has been preserved. It deals mainly with the daily or occasional ritual, but expounds in this context teachings of the creation of the world, God, the mantra, the individual soul and the religious aims of human beings, too. In the present study these teachings are described systematically and its translation into practice is set forth by a detailed description of passages which are expressive with respect to cosmological, theological and philosophical teachings.
