Georgi Mitov is a PhD candidate in Byzantine Studies at the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Vienna and a predoctoral researcher in the Division of Byzantine Studies at the Institute for Mediaeval Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on Christian liturgical texts transmitted in mediaeval Greek and Slavonic manuscripts.

Georgi is one of the editors of the two-volume Old Church Slavonic–Greek Lexicon based on the Didactic Gospel, a ninth-century Slavonic corpus of homilies by Constantine of Preslav (Sofia: Prof Marin Drinov Publishing House of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, 2024). He is currently working on a dissertation examining the formation and standardisation of funeral rites for monastics in Byzantium and the Balkans between the tenth and the end of the fifteenth century.
