In their article for Studies in Communication Sciences, CMC researchers Marie-Isabell Lohmann (former) and Andreas Riedl use the theoretical framework of EU-legislation to argue, which functions journalists should fulfil in a democratic society. They compare to what extent journalists working for the free and for the paid press in Austria aim to fulfil them based on data from the Worlds of Journalism Study (WJS) – Austria.
