Our Last Digital Reality Check

On 26 January 2026, the ÖAW Schulvortrag at BRG Ettenreichgasse (Vienna) marked – for the moment – the final school lecture for Christina Krakovsky, Marina Lindmeyr and Marie Rathmann, with support from Andreas Schulz-Tomančok. The session formed part of the Akademie im Klassenzimmer initiative of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The workshop, 'DIGITAL REALITY CHECK – Your Decisions Online', invited the 6th grade AHS class of 21 students to engage with fictional yet research-based case studies derived from the DIACOMET project. These scenarios enabled participants to explore ethical dilemmas in digital environments, reflect on the consequences of their online actions and critically examine their own decision-making processes.

By combining research-based narratives, dialogic methods and participatory learning, the workshop successfully bridged science and practice. It not only strengthened ethical reflection and moral imagination, but also empowered students to engage more responsibly with digital media. This final ÖAW Schulvortrag was a fitting and inspiring conclusion to a highly valuable outreach initiative.

Am 26. Jänner 2026 fand ein ÖAW Schulvortrag in der BRG Ettenreichgasse in Wien statt. Für Christina Krakovsky, Marina Lindmeyr und Marie Rathmann war es vorerst der letzte Schulvortrag in diesem Format. Unterstützt wurden sie von Andreas Schulz-Tomančok. Sie arbeiteten mit fiktiven, aber wissenschaftlich fundierten Beispielen aus dem DIACOMET-Projekt. Der Workshop verband Wissenschaft mit Praxis. Die Schülerinnen und Schüler konnten mitreden, nachdenken und diskutieren.
