Matthias Karmasin elected to Academia Europaea

CMC Director Matthias Karmasin was elected a member of The European Academy - Section Film, Media and Visual Studies.

The European Academy - Academia Europaea was founded in 1988, on the initiative of the UK's Royal Society and other National Academies in Europe. Academia Europaea is the only Europe-wide Academy with individual membership. It is an organisation of eminent, individual scientists and scholars, covering the full range of academic disciplines.  The Academy organizes meetings and workshops, provides scientific and scholarly advice (one of the 5 pan-European organisations recently invited by the European Commission to participate in the new Scientific Advice Mechanism - SAM) and publishes the `European Review’.

The object of Academia Europaea is the advancement and propagation of excellence in scholarship in the humanities, law, the economic, social, and political sciences, mathematics, medicine, and all branches of natural and technological sciences anywhere in the world for the public benefit and for the advancement of the education of the public of all ages in the aforesaid subjects in Europe.

Congratulations, Matthias!
