The Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies (CMC) was represented with two contributions:

• Andreas M. Scheu, Yuca Meubrink and Johanna Klausing presented their study “Herausforderungen der Berichterstattung über das Bauwesen im journalistischen Nachhaltigkeitsdiskurs.” Drawing on qualitative interviews with journalists in Germany and Austria, the project explores how sustainability challenges in the construction sector are covered in journalism, highlighting structural differences in media systems, editorial priorities and the potential for more constructive approaches.

• Marie Rathmann contributed a poster presentation entitled “Zwischen Vielfalt und Vorurteilen: Das Spannungsfeld rund um Diversität und Diskriminierung in Kodizes des öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunks in Deutschland.” As part of her doctoral project, she analyses public service media guidelines on diversity and discrimination, revealing differences in how ethical principles are framed.

Beyond the formal programme, the conference was marked by stimulating discussions and a warm atmosphere that fostered exchange across projects and disciplines. Our sincere thanks go to the organisers for offering free participation, a lovingly prepared self-made buffet, and reusable cups. These efforts provided an excellent foundation for scientific exchange, showing that genuine dialogue thrive in a mindful and sustainable setting.

Ende September fand in Münster eine Tagung vom Institut für Kommunikationswissenschaft (IfK) statt. Das Thema war: “Journalismus und Grenzen“. Wir waren mit zwei Beiträgen vertreten. Andreas M. Scheu, Yuca Meubrink und Johanna Klausing stellten eine Studie zur Berichterstattung über Nachhaltigkeit im Bauwesen vor. Sie zeigten: Das Thema ist sehr wichtig, wird in den Medien aber oft zu wenig behandelt. Auch Marie Rathmann präsentierte ihre Forschung. In einem Poster erklärte sie, wie in den Richtlinien vom öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunk in Deutschland über Vielfalt und Diskriminierung gesprochen wird. Die Tagung war spannend und bot viele gute Gespräche in freundlicher und offener Atmosphäre.
