ACDH @ Lange Nacht der Forschung

The ACDH participated in ‘Research after Dark’ (Lange Nacht der Forschung) at the main tent on Vienna’s Heldenplatz.

The ACDH served digital breadcrumbs to calm the hunger for knowledge at the ‘Research after Dark’ event (Lange Nacht der Forschung). Like all other OEAW institutes, the ACDH presented its research projects in the main tent on Heldenplatz, which was visited by more than 12 000 people over the course of the evening. The topic of the ACDH booth was ‘Bread and Circuses’, where visitors enjoyed digital bits and analogue appetizers (sponsored by Ströck). Various digital text collections, corpora, and databases hosted by the ACDH were presented, offering possibilities to learn about dialectal expressions for bread (explore.AT!ViDi), bread in the media (amc), in other cultures (travel!digital), and in other times (ABaC:us) as well as many other projects developed at the ACDH (dhathe Eckhel projectGraphViewerSMC browser). Kids were offered a chance to research how Max and Moritz ended up in a bread loaf and solved puzzles built with digital methods.
