Experimental data are regularly collected from refereed journals by the Particle Data Group (PDG) which compiles, compares, evaluates and provides averages and fits of the measured properties of the fundamental constituents of matter, the quarks, leptons, and bosons and the composite mesons and baryons. The RPP also contains more than 90 reviews on recent developments and basic concepts in Particle Physics and Cosmology, such as symmetries, quark model, neutrino oscillations, detectors and accelerators. Many data plots are provided, as well as tables on fundamental constants and on atomic and nuclear properties of materials. The review of about 2400 pages is published every two years in a peer- reviewed journal, with the online version updated every year. The next printed version will appear in June 2026. The RPP is the most cited publication in Particle Physics with 4,000 citations/year (more than 100,000 since PDG was founded in 1957). The online site is consulted 26,000 times/month and is, together with its printed wallet booklet, an invaluable tool for researchers and students.
Some 230 physicists from 170 Institutes contribute to the RPP. The Marietta Blau Institute is involved with Claude Amsler (coordinator) and Christoph Schwanda (together with 14 collaborators) in the Meson Team, which reports on the current status of light and heavy mesons, and on new states that do not fit in the quark model.
