E. Widmann elected as Deputy Chair of NuPECC

In the last meeting of NuPECC, the Nuclear Physics Europen Collaboration Committee, in March 2018 in Amsterdam, SMI Director Eberhard Widmann was elected to the newly created position of Deputy Chair.

NuPECC is an expert committee of the European Science Foundation (ESF) which has the task to strengthen the European collaboration in nuclear physics, which is mostly done through the publishing of regular Long Range Plans, in which the nuclear physics community describes their priorities for the next 5-10 years.


E. Widmann was member of the steering committee of the last two Long Range Plans 2010 and 2017 in charge of working group 5 on Fundamental Symmetries and Interactions, and will represent the hadron physics community in the NuPECC directorate.
