Arriving at IMBA

From the Airport By Train

Vienna International Airport is located about 19 kilometers southeast of IMBA and is connected by rail, bus and motorway.  You can reach IMBA by train in several ways.

Regional trains: The S7 train stops at “St. Marx/Vienna Biocenter”, which is 200 meters from IMBA. When coming to IMBA from the airport, the direction is given as “Wien St. Marx”. The S7 runs every 30 minutes and takes 19 minutes. The S7 is generally the fastest and cheapest transportation option. 

Other regional trains from the airport run through Vienna's central train station (Hauptbahnhof Wien).  If you take one of those trains, you will need to transfer from the main train station to the No.18 tram (direction “Stadion”) and get off at “St. Marx”.

Express Train CAT: The CAT is an express train, but it only stops downtown at “Wien Mitte/Landstraße”, so you will need to transfer to the 74A bus to the stop “Viehmarktgasse”. Combined, the journey takes longer than the S7.

From the Airport By Bus

Shuttle Bus: Alternatively, you can take a Vienna Airport Lines shuttle bus to Vienna's central train station (Hauptbahnhof Wien). From there, the No.18 tram (direction “Stadion”) will take you to the stop “St. Marx”, around the corner from IMBA.

From the Airport By Taxi

Taxi: A taxi from the airport to IMBA takes about 20 minutes and costs around 45 EURO.

From the main train station (Hauptbahnhof)

From Vienna Central Train Station (Hauptbahnhof), take the No.18 tram (direction “Stadion”) and get off at “St. Marx”.

From the west train station (Westbahnhof)

From Vienna West Train Station (Westbahnhof), take the No.18 tram (direction “Stadion”) and get off at “St. Marx”.

By car

  • If you arrive via motorway A23, take the “St. Marx” exit.
  • Drivers coming via the A4 should exit at “Knoten Prater”.
  • Parking: on the streets surrounding IMBA (3rd district), parking during the day (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.) is only possible with prepaid tickets and is restricted to 2 hours at a time.
