Starting in September, the Austrian Archaeological Institute will be part of Kulturpool – a central online portal that provides digital access to Austria's cultural heritage. More than one million objects from museums, libraries, and archives are already available to the public there in the form of images, texts, audio files, videos, and 3D models.
As part of this offering, the OeAI provides images, 3D models, and metadata on Roman fibulae and components of historical costumes. Access is provided via the digital research infrastructure cfir.science, which aims to make archaeological artifacts freely accessible. A diverse collection of fibulae from various museums and collections is presented, available as interactive 3D models and photographs. Detailed recording and the possibility of three-dimensional viewing allow users to explore the objects from different angles, giving them a deeper understanding of their form and design. More content from the OeAI will be available in the future.
