Contextualizing ‚Oriental‘ Cults

From 15^th–17^th of September 2022, a conference on »Contextualizing 'Oriental' Cults« was held at the Zagreb University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The meeting was co-organised by the OeAI research group »Religious Studies«. About 30 specialists questioned and discussed the archaeological-historical background of a phenomenon of the Roman imperial period, which is currently again in the light of a broader public due to an international Mithras exhibition (Mariemont - Toulouse - Frankfurt). The event continues a series of international conferences initiated in Skopje in 2013, which are particularly dedicated to the exchange between the western and Balkan provinces of the Imperium Romanum.
