    IWF Graz opens Planetary Garden

    On Friday, 24 May 2013, the first Graz Planetary Garden was opened at IWF Graz. LR Kristina Edlinger-Ploder, initiator Christoph Kürbisch, and IWF Director Wolfgang Baumjohann (vrnl) had the honorable task to cut the ribbon between Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.</p> <br> Further information and photos of the event coming soon

    Am Freitag, 24. Mai 2013, wurde der erste Grazer Planetengarten vor der Westfront des Institutsgebäudes eröffnet.     IWF-Planetengarten

    Um die "astronomischen" Dimensionen unseres Sonnensystems zu veranschaulichen, wurde im Außenbereich des IWF ein Planetengarten errichet, in dem zwei Maßstäbe zum Einsatz kommen: Bei den Planeten entsprechen zwei Zentimeter 10.000 Kilometern. Bei den Abständen der Planeten zueinander entsprechen drei Meter etwa einer Milliarde Kilometer. Somit hat "das gesamte Sonnensystem" eine übersichtliche Länge von rund 15 Metern.
